Super Pro points standings
26th April: Stephen Talbot informs us that the Santa Pod Super Pro points standings are now available on the
Talbot Racing Team web site. Stephen says he'll also post the Avon Park points there when he gets them.
If you know of any other web sites which publish points standings, please let us know at news@eurodragster.com.

Jan Muren retires
23rd April: We hear that Jan Muren has retired from Pro Stock racing and that the McDonalds Pro Stock team have a new car, a 1996 Pontiac TA and a new driver, 25 year-old Niclas Andersson. Also, we've just heard that there's a new Pro Stock team this season. Rickard "Nixxon" Sundblom, Turku, Finland bought the wreck of Arto Sandbergs Ford Probe after his crash at Mantorp in 1996. The car is now race-ready, rebuilt as a '96 Dodge Avenger!

Avon Park Super Series results
19th April: Results from Round One of the Avon Park Super Series can be found on
UK1320.

Anita Makela drives Peter Lantz' Fueller in '98
18th April: Peter Lantz has confirmed that Anita Makela (Haapenen, properly) will be driving his Top Fuel Dragster this year. More news soon on
Peter Lantz' web site.

Thunderball pictures
15th April: Pictures from the Thunderball can be found on
Tog's Drag Racing Page

Thunderball results
13 April: Results of the (severely rain-affected) Thunderball at Santa Pod, including data directly from the track's timing system, are now available at
TonyB's drag racing web site.

Bad news for Fisches, good news for fishes
10th April: Received the following from Paul Fischer:
We smacked our "good" Walt Austin heads at Last month's test session.

(1) The valve seats were not fitted well and moved when the valves hit them.
(2) That increased the installed valve heights and lowered the spring
pressures.
(3) That caused the valves to float at high (ish) revs.
(4) That reduced the pistons to valve clearances.......

Get the picture? We'll be rebuilding them in the UK.

We'll be running our spare heads for the Thunderball but they are not port
matched to the manifold - that means the air won't flow as freely - that
means we won't be running too quick.

Damn!

But I did win a tenner from Camelot last night.
Never mind, Paul. As I sit here watching the rain wash away the snow, I get the feeling that the fastest run we're going to see this weekend will be from the sweeper truck.

Thunderball Top Alcohol Entries
3rd April: We're in for some explosive action at the Thunderball, judging by the TA entry list. See for yourself at the European Top Alcohol Racers Association web site. (Look for "Preview of next race")
